MOVIE SPOTLIGHT - "THE PILL"

THE PILL
A film by J.C. Khoury

Starring Noah Bean, Rachel Boston, Anna Chlumsky, Al Thompson, Dreama Walker

Feature film THE PILL will have its bicoastal world premieres at indie film fests DANCES WITH FILM in Los Angeles on Tuesday, June 7th and GENART in NYC on June 12th.

Written and Directed by J.C. Khoury an award-winning commercial director whose work is in the permanent collection at the MoMA, THE PILL stars Noah Bean (Damages, Morning Glory), Rachel Boston (500 Days of Summer), Anna Chlumsky (In the Loop), Al Thompson (The Royal Tenenbaums), and Dreama Walker (Gossip Girl).

It happens. You meet someone at the bar, one thing leads to another, and the next thing you know you're waking up wondering (and potentially regretting) exactly what took place the night before. Such is the case for Fred, who starts to panic when his free-spirited one night stand, Mindy, informs him that she's not on birth control; but for some reason isn't too concerned. Determined not to become a father, Fred spends the day with Mindy under the guise of pursuing a serious relationship to make sure she takes both doses (taken 12 hours apart) of the morning-after pill.

The result is an all-day adventure filled with socially awkward situations and untimely roadblocks as Fred struggles to preserve his New York City world. With a resolution finally in sight, the no-boundaries Mindy starts to grow on the overly anxious Fred, forcing him to make a decision that will change the rest of his life.

A portrait of young singles in New York City, The Pill examines the immediate ramifications of casual dating in a poignantly funny, fresh, and honest fashion.

THE COFFEE KLASH WRAP PARTY AT NYC's FOUNDATION LOUNGE

On Saturday May 21st, we were lucky to nab an invite to the exclusive wrap party for "The Coffee Klash", the latest film project by Mattioli Productions. The party was held at Foundation, a hip and trendy celebrity Hot-spot located on the lower east side of Manhattan. Cast members and crew celebrated with their friends in a wild and entertaining night.

The evening was brimming with excitement as the cast celebrated the completion of the short film. The film centers around a young lesbian (Wynn Van Dusen) who not only comes out to her mother (Blanche Baker) at a LGBT coffee shop, but introduces her to a new girlfriend (Samantha Artese). This smart and witty comedy comes after Jana Mattioli's last film "Bidentity Crisis" which stars Elissa Goldstein (An Affirmative Act) and Edvin Ortega.

Director Jana Mattioli ("An Affirmative Act", "Bidentity Crisis") was thrilled with the project "We couldn't have asked for a more talented cast and crew," Mattioli praised. "And I'm really grateful for their work and dedication."

The cast (pictured left to right: Steve Wolf, Julia Weldon, Keith Collins, Samantha Artese and director Jana Mattioli) allowed their comedic talents to shine in the film. "It's a great mix of comedy and sincere adherence to being who you are. I'm just really proud!" She should be, especially since her creative voice is being raised for the LGBT community with this and her other groundbreaking films.

MOVIE SPOTLIGHT - KIM SONDERHOLM'S "LITTLE BIG BOY"

"LITTLE BIG BOY" IS NOW OUT!

Little Big Boy is, to say the least, a film like no other. It tells the story of acclaimed horror film director Jimmy Duncan, famous for his hot temper as well as his very exploitative movies. Having witnessed the murder of his mother at the age of seven, Duncan grows up at an orphanage and as an adult works his way up in the movie industry.

Caught up in the downward spiral of his own success surrounded by movie reviewers who refuse to acknowledge his obvious talent, starlet wannabes with absolutely no talent, producers with little patience and people who will do anything and exploit anyone to become famous in an industry where you can count on no one, we follow Jimmy while working on his fourth feature film "Death Stalker", which quickly turns into a descent into complete and utter madness as his leading lady leaves the production halfway through the shooting. This begins the insane fall of Jimmy Duncan.

All this while being haunting in his dreams by his childhood experiences.

Along the way we meet many familiar faces: Troma's Lloyd Kaufman, April Monique Burril (Chainsaw Sally, Good Sisters), Monique Dupree (Satan Hates You, Spirit), Megan Sacco (Avantgarde), Amy Lynn Best (A Feast of Flesh, Splatter Movie), Rachel Grubb (Terror Overload, Strip Club Slasher), Brandon Slagle (Methodic, Mega Shark vs Crocosourus), David C. Hayes (Blood Moon Rising, Slices), Keith Collins (Non Compos Mentis, A Fight For Survival), Manoush (Amelie from Montmatre, Le Petite Morte), Gry Bay (All About Anna), Melany Denise (Westbrick Murders) and realitystars/celebritymodels Katrine Poulsen and Jessica Sky and many others. The role as Jimmy's daughter is played by teenage talent Nicolette Michaela. Furthermore it contains brief cameos by Playboy models Angelina Leigh and Nikki Magnusson.

Jimmy Duncan at his adult age is played by the director Kim Sønderholm himself, while seven year old Jimmy is played by Danish child rapper/actor Toke Lars Bjarke who recently starred in Academy Award Winner/Golden Globe Winner for best foreign film 2011, 'In A Better World'.
