IndieFlix and Nordstrom Present “The Empowerment Project: Ordinary Women Doing Extraordinary Things”

IndieFlix, (www.indieflix.com) a leading independent movie streaming service, is teaming up with Nordstrom to present “The Empowerment Project: Ordinary Women, Doing Extraordinary Things” to host four screenings in select cities around the U.S. The documentary was created by women filmmakers to showcase America’s most inspiring women across the nation and will be shown in Seattle on September 29th, followed by screenings in Los Angeles (October 6), Chicago (October 20) and Washington D.C. (October 27).

The Empowerment Project features five female filmmakers traveling across the U.S. with the hopes of inspiring the next generation of strong women to go after their career ambitions.  Driving from Los Angeles to New York over the course of a month, the ladies interview women in a variety of career fields. From flying above San Francisco with a female pilot, and sitting down with the creator of "The Oprah Show," to working in a lab with a cancer biologist, and dancing alongside a professional ballerina, the Empowerment crew gets the chance to spend a day in each woman's shoes and challenges the audience to ask themselves, "What would you do if you weren't afraid to fail?"

“We are thrilled to be taking this film out into the world to start a conversation about how extraordinary women are and excited to partner with Nordstrom to present it through these four screenings,” said Scilla Andreen, one of the producers of The Empowerment Project and CEO and co-founder of IndieFlix.  “The Empowerment Project is a prime example of the types of great films IndieFlix chooses to create and bring to movie-lovers.  The message of empowering and inspiring young women everywhere to dream big represents one of our core values and beliefs.”

“We love what The Empowerment Project stands for,” said Jamie Nordstrom, president of stores for Nordstrom. “The film’s uplifting and inspirational message is something that will really resonate with so many of our customers and employees – certainly the girls and young women we serve, but also their mothers, fathers, husbands and brothers, too. We’re proud that we have the opportunity to join with IndieFlix to present the film in four cities that we are also fortunate to serve through our stores.”

Guests and media will have the opportunity to meet with the filmmakers after the private screening for a question and answer forum. Show times in the four cities are as follows (note that seats are limited and available by RSVP on a first-come basis):
