Brainchild of London born writer/director/producer Diemiruaya Deniran, 'Diary of a Badman" tells the story of a Jamaican born female detective played by Jacinth Sutphin, who goes undercover and falls in love with the intellectual, yet ruthless drug lord she is charged to bring down.  Actress Tanya Thompson portrays Teresa, the very opinionated over-protective sister of the druglord Winston Buck Bailey played by lead actor Doug Robbs.  Tanya brings both truth and honesty to her character with a mix of comedy all the while making Sutphin's character terribly uncomfortable.

Thompson was born to a Jamaican mother and Guyanese father and she feels blessed to have been a part of a production that is made up primarily of Jamaican-American and African-American actors. "When I first auditioned for the role, I put my own spin on how I felt this character would be. The Director gave me the freedom to "play with the character" and use heavy to light patois (Jamaican dialect).  Growing up in a Caribbean household, this character was super fun to channel as she was very familiar to me.  As soon as I read the sides, I visualized my sister-in-law's personality and her reaction when her brother brought me home for the first time before we were married. That's exactly the reaction I delivered in my audition tape.  The Director said that he didn't write the character that way but he thought my version was "PERFECT". Thompson added.

Thompson is an experienced, trained actor who studies at the Marishka Philips Theatrical Preparatory.  She is also an Award-Winning Producer. Thompson's next film to be released 'The 1 Closest 2 U' with Taral Hicks (A Bronx Tale, Belly) will mark the actress' first feature film theatrical debut in a leading role. The thriller is scheduled to be released this summer. Thompson can also be seen in the highly-anticipated feature film 'Where Hearts Lie' featuring Malik Yoba and Clifton Powell which is scheduled for limited release later on this year. Thompson is excited about about her future project the upcoming drama "In Calls Only" an Official I.C. Entertainment Production shooting in the Spring of 2016. Tanya is available for interviews in New York and Jamaica.
