Glasgow Actress Clare Sheerin receives BAFTA nomination for Scottish Comedy Film

Emerging Scottish Actress Clare Sheerin has picked up a BAFTA nomination for her performance in the award winning and acclaimed short film Perfect Strangers.

Sheerin plays Jen, a woman stranded in the Scottish Highlands on Christmas Eve during a snow storm. She teams up with Rob (Kenny Boyle) and attempt to get home in time for Christmas.

Sheerin said, "I'm so excited about the opportunities that could come from this. I am incredibly humbled to be nominated for a BAFTA New Talent Award, this didn't even cross my mind that this might happen."

Writer & Director of Perfect Strangers Ryan Hendrick said, " I'm over the moon that Clare has been nominated. Clare is a spectacular actor and one of Scotland best kept secrets until now, I hope this gives her the stepping stone she needs to make it big, without a doubt a star in the making.

Hendrick was previously nominated for a BAFTA Scotland New Talent Award in 2010, " It's a great honor to receive a nomination early in your career. The Scottish Film industry is in a state of crisis and there is a real lack of support for new and emerging talent. BAFTA Scotland are a fantastic organization who understand the need to support the new talent and their efforts should be applauded.

Perfect Strangers premiered at the Cannes Film Festival in 2015 and has since travelled the world screening at over 10 film festivals. The film won the Audience Award at the Glasgow Southside Film Festival in October.

BAFTA Scotland New Talent Awards will be held on Thursday 14 April at Drygate Brewery, Glasgow.
