2013 Atlantic City Cinefest Fast Approaching

The 2013 Downbeach Film Festival/Atlantic City Cinefest is less than a month away. Movies are in place, venues are set, and attendance is growing.

"After a successful festival in 2012 in which we had "Boardwalk Empire" creator, Terry Winter, the legendary Bob Downey, Sr. and Neptune native, Peter Dobson, as guests, we are looking forward to making more memories at our sixth festival, in October," said Nichole Kilpatrick, vice president of the Downbeach Film Festival, which runs Atlantic City Cinefest.

Venues include Dante Hall Theater, Carnegie Center, Golden Nugget Showroom and The Atlantic City Free Public Library.

Chris Mulkey expects to return to the festival for the third time. Mulkey will seen soon in theaters in "Captain Phillips" with Tom Hanks.

Board member and Rowan film professor, Ned Eckhardt, will host a series of nine short films from five colleges around the nation about sexual abuse on campuses. Filmmakers will be in attendance.

Also on tap is another documentary called “Troupers,” which focuses on performers who continued into their 80s, including Kaye Ballard and Carl Ballantine. Co-director, Sara Ballantine, Carl’s daughter, expects to be in attendance along with the other director, Dea Lawrence.

Harris Haith will premiere “The Starks Coalition,” a feature film shot mostly in Atlantic City. Haith stars and directs the tale of Justin Starks, a former financier who ends up down on his luck and fights back.

"Psychopath:Mania" To Be Released Nationwide

Directed & Written by Geraldine Winters comes a sadistic Horror / Thriller “Psychopath Mania”. Starring Jason Prager (”Beauty And The Geek”), Bobby Max (“Clownstrophobia”), Keith Collins (“The Meat Puppet”,” Gravedigger”) & Sophia Sassoon (“Made In Chelsea”). This film delivers a raw psychological mind bending journey through and insane asylum filled with patients who fall victums to doctors malpractices.
Pyschopath Mania tells the story of the Banewood Asylum which houses the mentally ill who have become victims of unethical procedures and mad doctors. Patients have disappeared or been found dead under suspicious circumstances. Young women seem to be the victims most often of a medical staff who's methods hearken to the dark days of psychiatric treatments. The doctors like to use Psycho-Surgery to remove parts of their brains to quell the patients violent tendencies, at times turning them into little more than zombies, that become more violent than ever.

The film gets deeper into the world of these demented doctors and their patients who end up being guinea pigs for their own self-worth. We give the film "3" out of four stars & would recommend it to any thrill seeker looking for something unique in the horror genre.
Being released nationwide October 15th 2013 you can pre-order a copy on amazon.com

Original Village People Cowboy to Wed in New York City With 13th Annual Birthday / Wedding Celebration

Multi-platinum recording artist and American Music Award winner, Randy Jones, the original Cowboy from Village People, will wed his partner, Will Grega, during three days of New York themed events from Thursday, September 12th to Saturday, September 14th, 2013.

Beginning the New York State of Mind weekend on Thursday evening will be a special proposal on “Experience the Ride”, a unique 75-minute tour of NYC in a mobile theatre vehicle with family and friends. Popping the question with Manhattan’s sparkling lights as background could only be amplified by a pause at New York’s Columbus Circle and its glittering fountains as the party witnesses a spectacular pas de deux performed to Andrea Bocelli’s “Septiembre Amor”. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tyhuXDtzwug)

Being longtime residents of New York City, and in true New York City style, the couple has selected City Hall for their Marriage Ceremony to take place Friday, September 13th, on Jones’ actual birthday. The mothers of both grooms and other family will be in attendance to witness the ceremony.

And finally, honoring the Italian heritage of Will Grega, a special appearance at the Feast of San Gennaro in New York’s Little Italy on Saturday, September 14th, will be followed by a true Italian banquet.

“Calling NYC home for four decades, and seeking Marriage Equality for nearly as long, we could not have chosen to be married in any other city in the world. New York is it. We LOVE New York!” said Jones.

Husband-to-be Will Grega is a Wall Street software developer. “I’m thrilled! The benefits are great. I now have a lifetime membership to the YMCA!”

2013 Edmonton International Film Festival Selections

The Edmonton International Film Festival accepted film submissions for consideration in programming this year’s event from February 15 to June 30, 2013. Submissions were a variety of lengths – short (50-minutes or less) and feature (longer than 50-minutes) – with categories and genres covering the entire cinematic spectrum from documentary to comedy to drama to animation, and everything in between.
“A huge thank-you to all the filmmakers who allowed us the honour to screen their ‘cinematic babies’” says Kerrie Long, Festival Producer. “We know that the phenomenal growth in film submissions is directly related to the experience that filmmakers have when they attend EIFF and feel the genuine warmth from our audiences.”
EIFF organizers, and Board of Directors, also extend a magnificent ‘Thank-you’ to the fifteen (15) film-lovers and festival-goers who assisted with screening all five hundred (500) hours of submissions, and to the key team leaders. They will be easy to spot now, with their rectangle- shaped eyeballs.
It is our privilege to announce the “Official Selection” films to be screened at this year’s Edmonton International Film Festival. Please note that the following film titles are curated from film SUBMISSIONS only – EIFF programmers are working now with distributors to program feature-length dramatic and documentary titles that have distribution. The remainder of our line- up to be announced in September, along with screening dates/times for these, and all, of our EIFF line-up. For more information log onto www.Edmontonfilmfestival.com
