Call for Submissions to the 9th Boston Turkish Documentary and Short Film Competition

Application deadline for the annual Documentary and Short Film Competition is August 20, 2014. The competition is open to all filmmakers from Turkey and abroad, and there is no limitation for subject themes and duration. However, applicant films have to be either in English or with English subtitles, and should be filmed within the last two years of the date of competition (2012). Each director can enter the competition with only one film per category. The competition's film screening program consists of competition and non-competition sections.

The Competition is the first award-granting Turkish documentary and short film competition in North America, and has been organized annually since 2006. The competition jury is comprised of distinguished filmmakers such as Haden Guest, Director of Harvard Film Archive; Peter Keough, film critic; and Carter Long, Film Curator of Museum of Fine Arts, Boston.

Finalist films of the competition will be screened at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston and Boston University from November 7th thru 15th, 2014. The audience will also have the opportunity to vote for their favorite "Best Documentary" and "Best Short Film" for the audience awards. The competition jury may also decide to give special mentions to selected film(s). Award-winning films of the competition will be rescreened at the 14th Boston Turkish Film Festival in 2015.
