Scots Dr Who Stars Team Up For Emotional Drama

Sundown tells the story of William (Hines), a man in his 70s who is taken on a timeless journey through the eyes of Abi (Blackwood) to come to terms with his own mortality.

Caitlin Blackwood said, "I think this project is important in terms of highlighting the issues the film delves in to, I have the opportunity to bring a youthful insight to a role that you'd normally expect to played by an older actor." Blackwood still only 16 famously rolled onto our screens at the tender age of 9 in the BBC's Doctor Who as the young Amelia Pond opposite Matt Smith. The character went on to be played as an adult by Caitlin's real life cousin Karen Gillan.

Frazer Hines star of Emmerdale, Doctor Who and Outlander said,
"Sundown is a beautiful script that really gives both myself and Caitlin the chance to really shine as two very real and complex characters."

Director and Co-Writer Ryan Hendrick describes the emotional drama as, "a story about how a person's perception on life can change once they accept their own mortality. Our goal is to explore these ideas and try to give a subjective view from a fresh perspective."

His writing partner Clare Sheppard said, "On the surface, William is on a journey we all must travel eventually, but dig a little deeper and you realise, his is a road we're all already on. I am very, very proud to be involved with this film."

Sundown marks the 3rd screenwriting venture between Hendrick and Sheppard. Their last short film Perfect Strangers enjoyed worldwide success after receiving more than 18 film festival selections, 3 awards and 4 nominations including BAFTA Scotland Nomination for Clare Sheerin in the Best Actress category.

Their 2nd venture is the upcoming road movie Journey Bound starring Ford Kiernan, Clare Grogan, Sylvester McCoy, James Kirk and Caitlin Blackwood to name a few.

The writing pair certainly have high hopes that Sundown will climb a similar ladder of success as their previous venture, "This is a story that needs to be told. It carries a universal theme that everyone can relate to."

The film's Producer, BAFTA Award Winner David Newman said, "We're planning to take this short film to the next level. We achieved a milestone in terms of production values on Perfect Strangers, so this time we need raise the bar even higher. This is why we are launching a crowd funding campaign on indiegogo. We have the workings of a beautiful film with an excellent and well loved pair of actors. I have high hopes for Sundown."

Sundown is due to start filming this summer.
You can support Sundown by following them on Indiegogo, Facebook and Twitter. Crowdfunding Campaign opens 1st May 2017. See Indiegogo page for more info.

Dreams Come True – An adventuorus motivational book and film

Dreams Come True is not merely a logbook and a movie, it is an inspiring tale of a journey to those who want to live their own desires.

One day Norbert Ádám Szabó wakes to realize: the life he lives is not truly his destiny. He feels that beyond the working desk and the daily grind there is another life, one that he can truly live as his own. Somewhere out there on the open ocean.

One day sailing on Lake Balaton he and his friend, Levente, invent the crazy idea of crossing the Atlantic in a tiny dual kayak, but all that is merely a game of fantasy for them, yet. Still, the two daring mates exactly know that they are going to make this a reality come hell or high water.

More than sixty days they spend amid the endless roar, subject to the changing weather, fighting the elements and their own uncertainties day by day. The diary logs of Norbert Ádám Szabó tell us about making drinking water from sea water, how it feels to hit a speedy flying fish and what to do if the waves kiss over us. Dreams Come True is not merely a logbook, it is an inspiring tale of a spiritual journey to those who want to get rid of clichés in their lives and want to live their own desires.

"The captain turns the spotlight to cast the harsh, blinding light on us and they just keep staring at the site. They now experience probably the most baffling moment of their lives. There are these two guys who have just crossed the Atlantic, within arm's length from the coast, and they just sit in their tiny boat with their paddles in their lap and eat a chocolate bar.

When they reach us we just stare back at them blinking, holding the chocolate.

They ask us anxiously if everything is OK.

Of course it's all OK, we're just a little hungry, that's all. Coming from a 'landlubber' this is easy to understand, most would think that after 63 days one would commit anything to feel stable ground under his feet, but from our perspective there is a totally different point of view. There is always time for a nice bar of chocolate."

ÁDÁM NORBERT SZABÓ was born in 1987 in Budapest. He graduated as an economist from the Budapest Business School, then spent a year working for a multinational company before he realized life has a rather different story for him in store.

St. Lawrence International Film Festival Announces April Official Selections For Sliff Online

St. Lawrence International Film Festival has announced its official selections for April, 2017 via the SLIFF Online format.

Now in its second month of online screenings, SLIFF Online has selected two short films for its April round of digital screenings. Both in the Sci-Fi genre, the films represent the best work in short filmmaking, selected from submissions from around the world.

From South Africa, "Tears in the Rain," directed by Christopher Grant Harvey, is set in the world of Phililp K. Dick's novel Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? (1968), which was adapted into the Sci-Fi classic film "Blade Runner" in 1982. Harvey's 11-minute fan film acts as a sort of prequel to the original "Blade Runner" set in a dystopian Los Angeles future, where genetically engineered humanoids are hunted by 'retirement engineers' when they start to display erratic behavior. Featuring Sean Cameron Michael and Russel Savadier, the film was co-written by Evan James Dembskey and produced by Andrew Eric Macdonald.

"Embers & Dust," written and directed by Patrick Biesemans, follows a boy in 1938 Concrete, Washington as the legendary radio broadcast of War of the Worlds set America on edge, believing the nation was under attack by Martian invaders. As the boy's rural town is plunged into a coincidental power outage, his imagination is sparked, sending him on his own kind of vision quest, deep into the neighboring forest.

"Embers & Dust" was the winner of Musicbed's Annual Film Fund Initiative (https://filminitiative.musicbed.com/) and features Joel Nagle, Virginia Logan and Henry Gagliardi as the film's young protagonist, Gene. It's produced by Stephanie Cohen and Jeff Croghan.

Previous official selections include documentary "Between Us" directed by Brad Rothschild, web series "Popp Over America" directed by Joe Popp and March winner "Ici ou La-bas (Right Here or Over There)" directed by first-time filmmaker Pauline Mabille.

After a successful inaugural year in 2015 featuring guest of honor Dan Aykroyd with screenings on both sides of the US/Canada border, and a Gala event in 2016 held at SUNY Potsdam's Performing Arts Center honoring the indie zombie thriller "Here Alone (http://trailers.apple.com/trailers/independent/here-alone/)", St. Lawrence International Film Festival shifts its focus this year to an online-only format highlighting short narrative, documentary and animated films, as well as web series pilots each month exclusively on the Festival's website www.stlawrencefilm.com

Online screenings begin the first of each month and run until the last day of the month. Submissions for the following month's screenings open the first of each month prior with entries permitted until the 20th of that month. Filmmakers can submit at www.filmfreeway.com/festival/stlawrencefilm or link to the submission site through the Festival website www.stlawrencefilm.com.

The objective of the new monthly online format is to celebrate and promote emerging and professional filmmakers with the greatest accessibility possible. Official Selections receive promotional laurels, promotion to the Festival's database and on social media. Winning projects each month will be featured on the Festival's Filmmakers to Watch page for the year and promoted to the Festival's list of entertainment industry influencers.
