MiLLENNiAL Magazine Launches Image-centric Lifestyle Website Highlighting The Best Of The Generation

The word Millennials often conjures images of overly indulged American youth hooked on the latest digital gadgets and cultural fads. But in fact, the word is less of a stereotype and more of a lifestyle that can be applied to just about anyone who thrives in the digital world.

So what exactly is a Millennial? According to Millennial Magazine's 25 year old Editor-in-Chief, Britt Hysen, a Millennial is someone born between 1975 and 1995, but the "Millennial lifestyle" she says can be defined as anyone who is "technologically savvy, environmentally friendly, health conscious, socially accepting, and globally aware." Pretty much anyone over the age of 18 who relies on the Internet and cares about the future of the planet can rightfully claim the lifestyle.

In response to Time's negative assertions, Hysen says, "The article is disconnected from the truth and trying to create a barrier between the generations. Most Millennials are doing incredible things, and 60% consider themselves entrepreneurs." Regarding those living with their parents, she adds, "The bad economy is greatly responsible for that. And starting a business is much more challenging than finding a job. It requires a lot of drive, ambition, and passion - three characteristics that define the generation more accurately."

With vibrant, oversized images shot by young, talented photographers and editorial content ranging from interviews with Millennial celebrities, entrepreneurs, and activists, unique individual exposes, relevant world news reports, and articles that highlight culture, the new design of MiLLENNiAL is raising the bar for online publications. Hysen describes the logic behind the new look, "Our redesign is a spin on the classic magazine layout. As we positioned ourselves to be the LIFE Magazine of this era, we wanted to retain a familiarity but with a fresh approach." She elaborates on the differences, "Traditional magazine covers are vertical, ours is horizontal to represent the digital paradigm. And we offer a clean, streamlined layout displaying only our latest content from each category compared to sites that overload their homepage with thumbnails and feeds."

Acting as the self-appointed "curator of millennial life" MiLLENNiAL publishes iconic photography highlighting news and culture in the digital era. Full screen images reflecting the times are accompanied by short, fact based captions providing visually impacting and insightful content. "Images are sexy!" Hysen asserts. "One picture can tell the whole story." And who would know better than the generation responsible for the success of Facebook, Instagram and SnapChat?

Published weekly, MiLLENNiAL is out to set the record straight by featuring Millennials "who are shaping the world we experience." The debut edition features recording artists Jaded Incorporated, a fresh collaboration between singer Mayer Hawthorne and beat producer, 14KT- Mayer's best friend from high school. The pair discuss their new music venture and the plight of their hometown, Detroit, Michigan. Subsequent June issues feature the rise of the Lucent Dossier Experience, an American Cirque du Soleil competitor launching their first national tour, the Goldston twins from Athletic Propulsion Labs responsible for inventing the first basketball shoe to make a person jump higher, and the "shark whisperer", Ocean Ramsey, a 27-year-old female marine biologist famous for swimming with sharks.

Other news articles of particular interest to the "under 40" crowd include the Gentrification of San Francisco, Government Open Data and Civic Hackers, and The Future of Space Exploration; and cultural stories such as Shopping at Farmer's Markets, A Millennial's Guide to Traveling Abroad, and International Hangover Cures.

What's most unique to MiLLENNiAL, however, is the Profile section. "We showcase "a-day-in-the-life" of everyday Millennials surviving these complicated times," Hysen says, "and the people we select usually have unique lifestyles or uncommon professions." Two Millennials are featured each week in a diptic-style photographic layout accompanied by a short bio and links to their social media sites. "It's our way of contradicting the stereotypes that Time and other media outlets have applied to us," Hysen says, "while honoring average individuals with inspirational stories."

Kickstarter Campaign for the Silver Lion Screenplay

We just started a Kickstarter Campaign to finish our boss' new screenplay.

Here's what his screenplay is about:

Élan is a 12 year old boy who works for Silver, an organization dedicated to protecting the corrupt interests of businesses in Chicago, 1932.  Élan's been trained since he was three to enforce those interests: killing anyone who stands in their way, manipulating the media, and orchestrating cover-ups.  He's known as the Silver Lion.  His dad, Roda was the main enforcer and the one who trained Élan, but due to his recent illness, everything is up to Élan now.

When Élan botches a job, risking exposing Silver because of a girl, he is ordered to kill her.  Now he must decide between saving Cora (the girl) and turning his back against all he's ever known and believed in, or killing Cora and keeping the status quo.

This story is about Élan's struggle between his deep beliefs that Silver is good and the harsh reality of the Great Depression of the 1930's.

Along this journey, Élan sparks a revolution and must overcome his warped beliefs to destroy everything he once protected and believed in.

Check us out now to get a chance at exclusive rights to produce the film, or MORE!

MOVIE SPOTLIGHT - "SNAPSHOT"

SNAPSHOT:: A jarring opening sets an intriguing start to a film about the emotional and political issues of privacy and defining the fine line between an individual’s right to privacy and the public’s right to know. “Your Privacy is for Sale” is a fitting subtitle.

The leading man, Thomas Grady (Zach McGowan - "Shameless", “Black Sails”) is a photographer, formerly at the top of his game, now down on his luck; but he accidently gets the money shot when least expected, a revealing photo of The First Lady (Joyce DeWitt - "Three's Company").

The President (Michael Pare -"Eddie and the Cruisers", “Lincoln Lawyer”) knows one thing – this photo cannot be seen by the public, it will ruin his chances for re-election, and probably his strained relationship with The First Lady. Enter Jack Adams (Martin Kove – “The Karate Kid” “Rambo”, “Cagney & Lacey”) his reliable right hand man, to do what needs to be done and “Make this go away”.

Veteran actor Robert Loggia (Academy Award nominee; "Scarface", “Big”, “Independence Day”) as Paul Grady, Thomas’ dad, brings his familiar class act to the screen, yet again in a wonderful performance. His other son Eddie (David Chokachi – “Baywatch”, “Witchblade”) has followed the family’s seven generations of community service within the Fort Lee Fire Department but not Thomas. No, Thomas has always been the rebel, and now he is on the precipice of dividing the family forever. Paul Grady holds out hope against hope that his son will do “The right thing”, the noble thing, but then Thomas comes up with this photo and threatens to ruin everything, for money no less.

Thomas and his girlfriend, Arianna played by the charming yet seductive Angela Gots (“Sex and a Girl”, “Dark House”) navigate uncertain times as the stakes rise. “Maybe you should take the money” Arianna taunts, “The public has a right to see this” but Thomas knows what the stakes really are all too well when he responds “This is a dangerous game we are playing”.

Directed by Eric Etebari (“2 Fast 2 Furious”, “Lincoln Lawyer”, “Cellular”) and written by Robert Borneman (“Rock Story”, “The Great Fight”, “The Life Zone”) who also served as Executive Producer with his wife Joyce Borneman called upon longtime friend, veteran independent filmmaker and writer Kenneth Del Vecchio to assemble a team that brings it all to life.

Borneman tells us Snapshot was inspired by the tragic deaths of Lady Diana and more recently Tyler Clementi, the Rutgers student who took his own life after his sexuality was exposed online. Borneman adds “I tried to draw a parallel between the damage that can be done by shooting someone with a camera and shooting them with a gun”.

We give Snapshot 4 out of 4 stars and strongly recommend the film to any movie goer. Snapshot is a complete success that goes above and beyond independent film making and when you think it’s over, get back in your seat, you can’t see the ending coming, in a style that adds a little more and then a little more culminates in a twist that audiences’ won’t see coming and that’s refreshing these days! A must See!!

Justice Is Mind to Screen on Cunard Line’s Queen Elizabeth Ocean Liner

Justice Is Mind, the acclaimed psychological courtroom drama that has been screening at theatres, universities and science fiction conventions throughout North America, is pleased to announce its international premiere on Cunard Line’s ocean liner Queen Elizabeth on October 29, 2014. Having previously cruised on the Queen Mary 2, suffice to say I’m looking forward to sailing on Cunard’s newest ocean liner.”

Set in the near future where advanced MRI technology can read your memory, Justice Is Mind follows businessman and restaurant owner Henri Miller who has been afflicted with unexplained headaches since childhood. When he has the new FVMRI procedure and it reveals that he has allegedly shot and killed two people, the trial of the century begins in which Miller is faced with his own memory at trial. But all is not as it seems as a dark family secret, held by Henri’s minister father Joseph, reveals itself in the courtroom. The official trailer can be viewed at this link:

Horror Legend Meg Foster Cast In Chilling Horror Movie

Meg Foster, horror legend and acting veteran with over 40 years worth of experience and credits, will be a lead character in the new horror film, “Investigation 13.” Produced by Rolando Viñas and Ofer Zosman of Gorilla Studios, with backing from M.E.E. (Miami Equity Entertainment), and directed by cutting-edge filmmaker Krisstian de Lara, “Investigation 13” is set to begin production in late June, with an anticipated release date in 2015.

The film is about a group of science students investigating the sinister urban legend of Leonard Craven, a.k.a. “The Mole Man,” an ex-patient of Black Grove Psychiatric Asylum who escaped and savagely murdered multiple people but was never found. The students explore the asylum to scientifically prove what happens to us when we die, but instead discover the terrifying proposition that Craven exists and doesn’t care for visitors.

Foster comes to the movie with an acclaimed acting resume. She has played lead and character roles in feature films and TV series since the 1960s, and is probably best known for her brilliant performances in “They Live,” “Masters of the Universe,” and “The Emerald Forest.” Foster is beloved by horror fans across the globe and promises to lend significant fan appeal and horror genre cache to “Investigation 13.”

Beyond the spine-chilling script and casting of Foster, the film also will be unique for several reasons. The production will use traditional narrative story-telling, but also will employ multiple forms of cutting edge technology, including found footage, hand-held cameras, surveillance cameras, and smart glasses to name a few.

“We are thrilled to have Meg Foster as a part of ‘Investigation 13,’” notes Rolando Viñas, one of the films producers. “She adds so much experience and horror genre credibility to our already-talented cast and production crew. We look forward to this movie entertaining audiences around the world for years to come.”

Ski Johnson Featured in New Film

Feast It Forward™ announced they have signed on Jazz Superstar Ski Johnson to participate in their upcoming documentary “Project: Malawi.” For over twenty six years, Ski Johnson has been a prolific and versatile jazz saxophone performer. By blending and experimenting with the genre, he has created a sound that is fresh and unexpected. His 8th Album “New Beginnings” hit #1 on the Billboard Charts in 2009, and his 9th Album “Underdogs on Top” hit #1 on the Billboard Charts in 2013. Ski Johnson has been considered for numerous awards including Grammy Awards. Johnson will be featured alongside Madeline Zima (Californication, #Stuck) and veteran actor/producer/writer Jeff Grace (It’s a Disaster, Super Zeroes, and The Scenesters). Ski explains, " We can truly change the world! one village at a time" This will be Johnson’s first Major Motion Picture Feature Film to date. www.skijohnson.us

The Feast It Forward™ film crew will be heading to Malawi, Africa June 2015 to shoot the documentary, produced by Co-Founders Kevin and Rebecca Gouveia, and Katie Hamilton-Shaffer, along with Claudia Sansone, Julia Carias, and Brook Altman. The film will showcase the incredible social transformation taking place in remote villages as a direct result of the positive developmental efforts of California couple, Claudia Sansone and Rob Hampton, DDS along with the impact the countries Gogo Grandmothers are having on Malawi’s orphan population.

June 2015 will be the fourth annual trip that Rob and Claudia take to Malawi where they are welcomed with open arms. Philanthropy is contagious and this year they will travel with a small tribe of doctors, dentists, agronomist and educators to further enrich their offerings. The couple has worked in collaboration with domestic Malawian resources to establish a much-needed dental clinic located in Daeyang Luke Hospital in Lilongwe and ongoing training for nurses and dentists. They also engaged Solar Cookers Intl to provide solar cooking kits as a safe alternative to traditional wood burning methods. “Smoke inhalation from cooking over an open fire is a serious health issue. Also, women must leave the village to collect firewood, which puts them in harm’s way. We want to keep the women and children safe,” explains Claudia.

Next year is quite monumental as there will be ground breaking on Dothi Village’s first ever pre-school, paving the way for an early childhood education program, which celebrates a major social transformation. They will continue to Zomba to work with SAFE Africa Feast It Forward’s mission is to encourage people to live a philanthropic lifestyle,” says Katie Hamilton Shaffer, Co-Founder of Feast It Forward. She continues, “Rob and Claudia are everyday people like you and I and serves as a prime example of how we can live beyond our own backyard and truly make a global impact. They’re literally feeding smiles and they inspire us.”

There’s quite a bit of excitement around “Project: Malawi”, as in addition to recording artist Ski Johnson, actress Madeline Zima (Californication, #Stuck) will be joining the team alongside veteran actor/producer/writer Jeff Grace (It’s a Disaster, Super Zeroes, The Scenesters). Each are personally committed to this cause and are eager to get involved as Jeff explains, “This truly is a movement with so much positive change. We want to share their stories with the world, and that’s exactly what we’re going to do.”Feast it Forward’s intentions: Train dentists and 36 nurses, from 16 out lying villages, in the Daeyang Luke Hospital Dental Clinic that the couple established in 2010. Break ground on a nearby village’s very first preschool and early childhood education program, setting the stage for surrounding villages, Provide books and resources for respective classrooms through book drive, Train existing village pre-schools with new and sustainable concepts, Provide and teach village women how to make and cook with solar cooking kits, thereby reducing the risk of smoke inhalation, a major health issue as well as keeping women and young girls safe from the harsh reality of abduction when traveling to gather firewood miles away from their village, By supporting this endeavor companies and individuals are personally touching the people who will benefit most from this project: the women and children of the Malawian villages that Rob and Claudia have been serving to improve their quality of life. To help, you can consider giving at one of the following, tax-deductible sponsor levels http://feastitforward.com/malawi-project-fundraiser-lots/ In addition to monetary contributions, they will gladly accept sponsorships of equipment and supplies needed for a successful project. List of items can be found on our website. Join the movement. Please visit our Fundrazr.com site to donate & make our Feast it Forward “Project: Malawi” Documentary a reality.

Philadelphia’s own Tiffany E. Green nominated for Best Actress Award at ABFF

-- Philadelphia resident Tiffany E. Green is back on the scene and turning heads in Skye Dennis’ production Myra’s Angel, a harrowing story of forgiveness and redemption. The nomination is just one of six for the film, including Best Director and Best Film. It is also the first very film produced in Philadelphia to be entered into the American Black Film Festival.

In Myra’s Angel, Green portrays Keisha, a young mother with strong family values, who struggles with keeping her fiancé on the straight and narrow path. The film introduces twists and turns resulting in a lasting impact on the entire family.

“The role was really challenging,” said Green. “I mean that in a good way; it allowed me to stretch the boundaries as an actor. Skye’s [Dennis] writing is always thought-provoking, and, as an actor, that’s what you’re looking for in a dramatic piece.”

The nomination is the second Best Actress nomination for Green; she was also nominated for the award in 2012 for the film The Journey of Herman Stone, also written by Skye Dennis. Green sees the second award as a validation of her abilities as an actor.

“The first nomination, for me, was confirmation that others actually enjoy my work; this one validates that the first nomination wasn’t just a fluke,” she says, jokingly.

The nomination follows Green’s exciting year as Chris Tucker’s girlfriend in the award-winning, critically-acclaimed Silver Linings Playbook, which also starred Robert DeNiro, Bradley Cooper, and Jennifer Lawrence, who also won the Oscar for Best Actress for her role.

Myra’s Angel will screen on Saturday, June 21st at 7:00 p.m. in the Silas Room of the SVA Theatre located at 333 W. 23rd Street in NY. The award ceremony will is scheduled for Sunday, June 22nd at 5:00 p.m. For more information, log onto www.abff.com.

Let’s celebrate Lastbenchersday on 27th June – dedicated to all Lastbenchers

Unlike the Popular days in our society, which keep on churning out every day like V day or Friendship day, this Lastbenchers’ day is not commercially promoted by any brand or business, but signify the emotions and passions of the crew who worked relentlessly to embark with this movie. The special thing about this movie is that it is among the first Bollywood movies to be made in Nagpur. So, we Nagpurians have all reasons to be proud of our young film makers – Prajakt Rebeloma, who is the man behind this project. The venture could have been incomplete without including this man’s name at this juncture.

He is the man who had dreams in his eyes to make a movie that talk about his passion and life and somehow portray the message, which is based on reality and the darker shades of a common man’s life. The entire crew is excited to see their movie hitting the theaters this coming 27th June. This is the day when their efforts, commitment, time and money, everything would be paid back by the audience. The movie that carries more of the off screen messages than the on screen message will be finally seen on 27th June, which is officially being declared its crew’s day.

It is really a matter of pride and reverence to see a man with starry eyes catching up his dream and making it a big reality. Even though if the film fails to do really good at the Box Office, yet the crew and this man have all reasons to have gala time. The celebration of making a film with no formal background in film making, the gala time of embarking with a movie with no big stars in it but common men who had dreams to do something big in the society and fiesta for many in the crew who put their days and nights to make this movie a big success. And if time and tide has their blessings for these guys then the intensity of celebration would reach out to a new zenith, giving hardcore lessons to the team to celebrate this day very year as it joins in their life.

Whether the crew stays or part out in bits and pieces to pursue their individual’s dreams and profession, yet every member of Lastbenchers’ crew would celebrate this day every year. Regardless of their busy life and hectic schedule, in some corner of their hearts they would have special feelings for 27th June 2014 since it was the very same day that made them in limelight. This was the day when they were discussed in the media and this was the day wherein they saw the movie being released in all the multiplexes and theaters of the country. So right from a simple spot boy to the director of the movie, the day would be to catch up their names in the cast titles when it would be seen in the multiplexes and theaters. And nothing more charming could be to see your name seen over the screens of a theater.

Pellissippi State's Ron Bellamy Wins 2014 Izbicki Media Award at KFMF

The Paul Izbicki Award for Excellence in Media Education will be presented to Ron Bellamy on Saturday, June 14 during the Knoxville Film & Music Festival awards ceremony at Scruffy City Hall on Market Square.

For the past 19 years, Bellamy ran the Video Production Technology program — a program he founded in 1991 — at Pellissippi State Technical Community College. Bellamy developed the entire curriculum, taught as a professor, planned and implemented expansion of facilities (including a state-of-the-art high definition TV/sound production studio believed to be the first of its kind in Tennessee), wrote and co-wrote grants, and helped grow the Video Production Technology student population.

Prior to starting the Video Production Technology program at Pellissippi State, Bellamy served as Senior Writer and Producer for McDonnell-Douglas and as Media Specialist for the Missouri Department of Education at State Fair Community College. During his career, Bellamy produced approximately 300 short and long form informational, instructional and documentary projects in 35mm still, motion picture film, and video formats. He also produced and/or directed live and location CCTV events.

"Ron Bellamy embodies everything we envisioned when we created the Paul Izbicki Award for Excellence in Media Education," said Michael Samstag, Director of the Knoxville Film & Music Festival. "Ron invested a large part of his career to educating and training tomorrow's great media pros — and his work has impacted thousands of talented, young media students."

Bellamy is the first recipient of the Paul Izbicki Award for Excellence in Media Education. Named after Paul Izbicki, a beloved member of the Knoxville film and TV community who passed away last August at the age of 65. Izbicki had been in the field of media production longer than most of his colleagues had been alive. He took to the field with a passion after retiring from the military in the late 1960s and attending both the University of Miami and Boston College.

Izbicki was a world traveler who called Boston "home" for more than 20 years. He left a long and accomplished career there with Fidelity Investments to head the production department at Jewelry Television in 2001, where he stayed until 2005.

"Paul Izbicki was a guy who always had time to share what he knew with a smile and his snappy Boston wit," Samstag said. "Paul was a visionary, and he planted the seed that would eventually grow into the Knoxville Film & Music Festival. He was completely committed to media education, so we wanted the award named after him to reflect that same passion and commitment."

In East Tennessee, Izbicki was on the board and served as president of the community based TV & Film non-profit TIPTOE , which serves Knoxville's independent production community. He was also responsible for creating Knoxville's first 10-hour film festival in 2005 (which eventually became the Knoxville 24 Hour Film Festival). It was at this point that his efforts, expertise, and spirit began to transform a disconnected and stagnant community of filmmakers and independent production professionals into the thriving, collaborative and ultimately viable community of artists we see, enjoy and benefit from today.

The 2014 Knoxville Film & Music Festival — recognized as Knoxville's "indie" film and music event of the year — has been the largest to-date. With world premier movies, the popular "Band-Eat-Band" competition, the fifth annual Knoxville 24 Hour Film Festival, the Paul Izbicki Award for Excellence in Media Education, and special guests including the producers of the hit television show South Park, the Knoxville Film & Music Festival is now a national and international event with a focus on local East Tennessee talent.

The Love Records brings the work of Nikola Tesla to film focusing on his contribution to saving our planet. By bringing his many achievements to film festivals around the world, it is the hope of The Love Records CEO, Sharon Doyle, that the public will be educated and the real legacy of this fascinating man, scientist, and inventor will be restored.

Many people aren’t fully aware how many of the thousands diagnosed with TS are out there struggling every day. It can be a very embarrassing disorder and there is no cure. Collins also says that with the many struggles he has endured with TS he wouldn’t give it up either “It’s a part of me and has made me who I am today, I treat all people with kindness it’s made me a better man and I'm proud to have TS”.
