"The Cabining" has Long-Awaited West Coast Premiere

There are two new “brothers” in town--Steve and Mike Kopera--and their award-winning first feature, The Cabining, plays at L.A.’s Dances with Films festival Friday June 6 at 11:45 p.m. at the TCL Chinese Theatres in Hollywood.

Fresh off Best Horror Feature wins at the Bare Bones International Film & Music Festival and the Cape Fear Independent Film Festival, the Kopera brothers’ horror comedy will finally get its L.A. debut. Horror aficionados have been tracking this film since last fall, when it screened to rave reviews and garnered enthusiasm from buyers at the American Film Market in Santa Monica.

“As maliciously entertaining as it is very, very funny,” according to Mark Bullock of HackedintheHead.com, The Cabining tells the story of Todd (Mike Kopera) and Bruce (Bo Keister), a pair of wannabe-horror screenwriters, who head to a remote artists' retreat seeking inspiration, and find death and deception instead. One by one, the other artists get knocked off, each in a more gruesome way than the last. This yields great material for Todd’s writing, but will he live to finish the script?

Writer/Director Steve Kopera and Actor/Producer Mike Kopera’s freshman film “does for murder-mystery what Shaun of the Dead did for zombie films” (B-Movie Avenger). The Kopera brothers will be on hand for the Dances with Films screening and a Q & A following, along with Director of Photography Jeffery T. Schultz and co-stars Bo Keister, Angela Relucio, Melissa Mars, Richard Riehle, and Chuck Saale. Purchase tickets at the door or at https://www.movietickets.com/purchase/perf_id/742082252/m....

Dances with Films, now in its 17th year, has earned a reputation as L.A.’s largest discovery film festival of emerging talent. The 11-day program runs from May 29 to June 8 at the TCL Chinese Theaters, 6801 Hollywood Blvd, 90028. For festival info and passes, visit http://www.danceswithfilms.com/schedule.html.
