NYC Comedian Max May wins Winter Laughs Comedy Competition

New York City comedian Max May took home top honors in Winter Film Awards' first annual Winter LAUGHS Comedy Competition at a packed house on January 21 at Broadway Comedy Club.

The Competition pitted 20 comedians in a head-to-head winner take all competition at Broadway Comedy Club over three nights. Comedians from around the country applied for the competition, and the top 20 were chosen to compete.  Semi-Finals were held in two rounds on January 19 and 20th and the top three from each day came back for the finals on January 21st.

Semi-finalists from day one were Max May, Jocelyn Chia (@jocelynchia) and Ian Murphy (@MurphyFrown).

Semi-finalists from day two were Laura High (@LauraHigh5), Aviva Wolf (@avivawoolf), Derek Humphrey (@derek_humphrey) and Shelly Colman (@awfullysnippy).

Winner Max May's (@maxmaymm) laid back demeanor draws audience in just to deliver a knockout punch. Raised in Brooklyn and now residing in Staten Island, Max May embodies the New York life. He started his comedy career in 2010 and runs and produces 3 weekly comedy shows for international crowds; he also hosts a weekly magic show. He is a regular at Stand Up NY comedy club and is a winner of Comedy Battles of 2014. He was featured in the Meadowlands Comedy Festival in 2015.

As winner, Max receives $200, software from Cyberlink, a part in a feature film directed by local director Larry Rosen and a part in the upcoming Winter Film Awards Indie Film Festival gala Awards Ceremony.
